Avoid abbreviations
Avoid abbreviations within your domain name
Well known companies that have huge advertising budgets can get away with using abbreviations within their domain names. The others can't, and it should be avoided because it will be difficult for users to remember the domain name and to find the site.
Users will make spelling errors and won't guess the abbreviations. It means sending this valuable traffic and business to competitors and they will love this free traffic.
If a buyer does not make the right decision, and selects the wrong domain name, not only will this valuable traffic be lost, and the competitors will get it, but the buyer must also expect that clients will send their e-mails to the competitors. The buyer will lose valuable business and, it's not likely that it can be recovered, even after wasting time explaining the confusion.
When a domain name is copied from someone else by using abbreviations, there is often confusion. When there is confusion, there are laws to prevent this confusion and penalize the one copying it. Anyone copying a domain name should not be surprised to get sued. It can easily end up costing a lot of money, with the real risk of losing the domain name, the business, and other assets.
The Internet is very competitive and you either have the right domain names or you don't. Copying domain names from others is not a valid strategy or tactic. Experience has shown that it does not pay.
